The Kiwi is native to New Zealand. The Kiwi is a nocturnal flightless bird. Emerging from its burrow when daylight fades, the Kiwi spends most of the night feeding. They probe the ground up to 15cm deep with their long sharp beaks looking for food.
Kiwis eat various grubs etc, extracted from the ground, but particularly enjoy a battle with the large New Zealand native worm (Spencerilla giganted). These resemble a short length of garden hose with a diameter to match and give the Kiwi a delicious feast.
